AI artifact sharing compared: Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor

Every AI tool now makes pages, dashboards and documents. Sharing them works differently in each: who can open the link, whether they need an account, and whether anyone can comment.

Free plan: 250 MB, up to 3 members, public share links. No credit card.

Short answerClaude Code artifacts are the most complete built-in option, for Claude plans only. ChatGPT and Codex Sites build hosted sites with chosen audiences. Cursor shares canvases with your team only. Overto works with any MCP agent and adds comments, drawings and versions.

Collaboration[2]The owner can invite workspace members as editors, who save and deploy versions. Editors can’t change the audience or make the first publish.

Sites is a website builder and host. It fits when you want a hosted site or app. It isn’t a review layer for files your agent already made on your machine. In Codex itself, an open feature request (openai/codex #29642) asks for inline HTML artifact previews in Codex Desktop. Overto for Codex covers publishing Codex output for review.

Cursor shared canvases

Cursor shared canvases As of October 2026
Cursor docs
What it shares[1]A live snapshot of a canvas: an interactive view with sections, charts and tables that an agent built.
Plans[1]Paid plans (Premium and higher, Teams, Enterprise, and legacy Pro, Pro+ and Ultra), and you need to be on a team. Legacy Privacy Mode blocks sharing.
Who can open it[1]Anyone on your team, in the browser, read-only. Team admins can turn shared canvases off.

What to do when your viewer can’t open it

  1. Check the audience. In Claude, ChatGPT Sites and Cursor, a share defaults to a narrow audience: you, your organization or your team.
  2. Check the viewer’s account. Claude shares generally need a Claude account; invited external viewers of a Site must sign in with the invited account; Cursor shares open only for your team.
  3. Check admin settings. Public links on Claude Team and Enterprise and on ChatGPT Enterprise Sites stay off until an admin turns them on.
  4. Publish somewhere the viewer can reach. If the person isn’t in your AI tool’s organization, publish the page to a shared workspace instead. In Overto they sign in with Google to your workspace, or open a public link for a document or website.

Where Overto fits

Overto is for teams whose agents differ from person to person, or whose reviewers don’t use the AI tool at all. Any MCP agent publishes HTML pages, multi-page sites, Markdown documents, files and audio to one private workspace. Reviewers comment on the exact passage or element and draw on the page. Your agent reads the feedback and publishes the next version, and every version is kept. The Free plan has 250 MB, up to 3 members and public share links, with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t my colleague open the Claude artifact I shared?

Shared Claude artifacts generally require a Claude account, and organization shares require membership of your Claude organization. On Team and Enterprise plans, a link for anyone works only after an Owner enables external sharing. Check the audience in the Share menu first.

Does Codex have artifacts like Claude?

Codex can build and publish websites through Sites, which shares them with chosen audiences. As of October 2026 an open feature request asks for inline HTML artifact previews in Codex Desktop. Overto gives Codex the publish, comment and revise loop over MCP.

Can I share a Cursor canvas with someone outside my team?

Not with Cursor’s shared canvases: only members of your team can open a share, and sharing needs a paid plan. To reach other people, publish the page to a tool that has its own sharing, such as Overto.

Which option lets reviewers comment and the agent revise?

Claude Code artifacts do this for organization shares in Claude. Overto does it for any MCP agent: reviewers comment and draw on the page, and your agent reads the threads and publishes the next version.

Is there a free way to share AI-made pages with a team?

Claude chat artifacts can be published on the Free plan, and ChatGPT canvas sharing is on every plan. Overto’s Free plan gives a team of up to 3 a private workspace with 250 MB, comments, versions and public links.
