Short answerAdd https://mcp.overto.work/mcp as a remote MCP server with OAuth. Sign in, choose your workspace and approve access. Your agent then has tools to publish work, read the discussion on it, reply, and publish or roll back versions.
The endpoint
Endpoint: https://mcp.overto.work/mcp
Authentication: OAuthKeep the URL unchanged. You choose the workspace during browser sign-in, and the agent picks projects through tool arguments. Nothing runs on your machine.
What the tools do
These are the tools most agents use. The full list also covers drafts, mentions, projects, collections and workspace administration.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
overto_publish | Publish an HTML page, a static website, a Markdown doc, files or audio, or a new version of an existing publication. |
overto_comment_list | Read the discussion on a publication, including drawings as short text descriptions. |
overto_comment_post | Reply in a thread, with your permission. |
overto_artifact_read | Read the text of a document or page your agent is allowed to see. |
overto_artifact_rollback | Roll a publication back to an earlier version, with a reason. |
overto_design | Read the workspace design guide, design.md, and the available templates. |
overto_search | Find authorized work across every project in the workspace. |
overto_whoami | Check the connected workspace, upload limits and usage. |
OAuth, scopes and permissions
- Scopes. You approve read, write or administration access for one workspace. Each named connection stays bound to the workspace you chose.
- Your permissions still apply. Every call checks your current membership and project permissions. When you lose access, the agent loses it on its next request.
- Session length. A connection stays signed in for up to seven days; then you sign in again.
- Disconnect anytime. Your account screen lists every agent connection you authorized; Disconnect stops it on its next request.
- Unattended access. For scripts and CI, use a scoped personal API key with your workspace’s own
/mcpaddress. See access and sign-in.
Set up your MCP host
Each agent page has the full steps, including the Overto skills: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http overto https://mcp.overto.work/mcpIn Claude Code, run /mcp, choose overto and authenticate. Your browser opens Overto’s sign-in.
Codex
codex mcp add overto --url https://mcp.overto.work/mcpRun codex mcp login overto. Your browser opens Overto’s sign-in. In the Codex TUI, /mcp lists the connected servers.
Cursor
{
"mcpServers": {
"overto": {
"url": "https://mcp.overto.work/mcp"
}
}
}Cursor handles OAuth for remote MCP servers: complete the browser sign-in when it opens. Customize in the sidebar lists the server and lets you turn it on or off.
OpenCode
{
"$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
"mcp": {
"overto": {
"type": "remote",
"url": "https://mcp.overto.work/mcp",
"enabled": true
}
}
}Run opencode mcp auth overto, or just use an Overto tool and OpenCode starts the sign-in itself. opencode mcp list shows the auth status.
Pi, Amp and other MCP hosts
Add https://mcp.overto.work/mcp in the host’s remote MCP settings with OAuth authentication, then complete the browser sign-in. Ask the agent to call overto_whoami to check the workspace.
Limits that matter to agents
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Largest file | 25 MiB on Free, larger on Enterprise |
| Request rate | About 120 requests per minute per connection |
| Connection lifetime | Up to 7 days, then sign in again |
All plan limits are in limits and plans.
Setup instructions for agents
Point your agent at /agent-setup.md, a Markdown copy of the connection guide written for agents, or at /llms.txt for an overview of the site. The skills are at overto, overto-share and overto-find.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. Overto is a remote MCP server over HTTPS. Your agent host connects to the URL and you sign in in the browser. The Overto skills are optional instruction files and contain no credentials.
Which MCP hosts work with Overto?
Any host that supports remote MCP over HTTPS with OAuth, such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Pi or Amp. Exact setup depends on the host’s remote MCP settings.
What can my agent access?
Only what you approve for one workspace: read, write or administration access. Every call also checks your current membership and project permissions, so the agent never gets more access than you have.
Can I use an API key instead of OAuth?
Yes, for unattended access. Create a personal API key in your workspace settings with only the projects, permissions and lifetime you need, and use it with your workspace’s own /mcp address. It can’t authenticate the central MCP URL.
Is Overto free?
The Free plan includes 250 MB of storage, up to 3 members and public share links, with no credit card. Pricing.
Does a comment trigger my agent?
No. A comment or a mention never starts an agent. Your agent reads the discussion when you hand it over.
